Privacy policy

Who we are

Gran Turismo Gladys is a YouTube channel and online shop about an AI character. In this policy, "we" means Gran Turismo Gladys, which decides how your data is used.

Contact for anything in this policy: granturismogladys@gmail.com.

What we collect on this website

  • Postcards email list: your email address, if you sign up. We use it to email you news about Gladys. Reply "stop" to any email and we delete your address.
  • Brand deals form: your name, company, email and message. We use it to reply to you.
  • Gladys Shout-Out form: your email, and your friend's first name, the occasion, a secret and a date. A real person reads it to make the clip and to email you when pre-orders open. Do not put anything in it your friend would mind Gladys saying out loud.

Our web host, Netlify, stores form entries for us. Netlify also keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to run and protect the site. This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. When the shop opens, Shopify's buy buttons set the cookies a basket needs to work.

The shop

Orders and payment go through Shopify. Shopify collects your name, address, email and payment details to take the order. We never see your full card number. Our print partner receives your name and delivery address to print and post the order. Shopify's own privacy policy also applies when you check out.

Our YouTube tools and Google user data

We use a small internal tool, the Gladys YouTube clerk, to manage our own YouTube channel, @GranTurismoGladys. It signs in with Google OAuth. Only the channel owner signs in to it. It is not offered to the public and it never asks anyone else for access to their Google account.

The tool asks Google for these permissions on our own channel only:

  • youtube.readonly: to list our own videos and read their details.
  • yt-analytics.readonly: to read our own channel's view and watch-time numbers.
  • youtube.upload: to upload our own videos as private or scheduled, and to set their thumbnails.

The tool runs on the channel owner's own computer. The owner uses an AI assistant (Anthropic's Claude) to read the results, so that data passes through Anthropic's service for this purpose only. We do not sell it, share it with anyone else, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The tool also uses YouTube API Services, so the Google Privacy Policy applies. Access can be removed at any time on the Google security settings page.

Legal basis and transfers

We rely on your consent for the email list, and on our legitimate interest in replying to messages and running the shop. Netlify, Shopify and Google may process data in the United States and other countries, under standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

How long we keep it

  • Postcards email: until you unsubscribe.
  • Brand deals messages: as long as we are talking, and no more than two years after.
  • Shout-Out requests: until the clip is delivered, then 90 days, then deleted.
  • Shop orders: as long as tax law needs.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the data we hold about you, restrict or object to how we use it, take a copy, or withdraw your consent. Email us and we reply within one month. If you are in the UK you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). If you are in the EU, contact your local data protection authority. If you are in Switzerland, contact the FDPIC (edoeb.admin.ch).

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
